Watercolor Flirtation

Azalea Way, watercolor, 14 x 19.5 inches, copyright ©2009

Although I consider oil my primary medium, I occasionally flirt with pastel and watercolor. Although I don’t address the medium with the same intensity as someone like William Dubin, I often times do a piece that strikes a note in me. This is one of those pieces, bold and sketchy.

I’ve uncovered another watercolor, done about 25 years ago, that still seems fresh to me. It’s called Country Road, and was buried in a box with hundreds of other drawings, sketches and mementos. I had not looked at this piece for over 20 years.
