William E. Elston is a Pacific Northwest artist best known for urban and rural landscape subjects. He has also been teaching painting and drawing in the Greater Seattle area for several decades. He currently instructs in painting the Total Landscape, including en plein air, and offers Online Group Critiques via Zoom-based sessions.

Men's Furnishings
I've belatedly learned that one of my paintings was in an auction of American art at Sotheby's in New York in October 2018. The work sold at the top end of its estimate. It was originally sold c.1989 at Elizabeth Leach Gallery in Portland OR, to Patrick Duffy, the actor best known for his role as Bobby Ewing in the series 'Dallas'. It was listed in Sotheby's catalogue as "from the collection of Patrick and Carlyn Duffy." Patrick's wife, Carlyn Rosser passed away in 2017.

Dodson's is Closing
The Jewelry Store / Gallery that I've been showing at in my hometown of Spokane is closing its doors for good in March of 2019. Dodson's Fine Jewelers, a fourth generation family business, has been a fixture in the Spokane downtown scene since 1887. Current owners Penn Fix and Debra Schultz plan to retire.

Installation: Here, There and Everywhere.
This is the installation of my current exhibition at Dodson’s Fine Jewelers, in Spokane, WA. I regret that my photographs do not do the installation justice, but it was the best that I could do under the circumstances.

Crossing The River (Monroe Street Bridge)
This painting is another view of the Monroe Street Bridge, seen from Post Street, just above Spokane Falls. It’s a venerable old bridge, which I first painted in the early 1980s.
