You can see a bit of the Alaska Way Viaduct along the upper right edge of the painting. Now the viaduct is gone as well, in the great transportation musical chairs that comprises Seattle's insoluble traffic problem. Each solution engenders new problems and requires more money. It's a good example of the city's inability to plan comprehensively. Rather the planning is all piecemeal, as the various development interests demand their chunk of the pie.
Linin' Track
This is a painting from my second show at Davidson Galleries. It depicts the lining of track for a new extension of the trolly that carried tourists from the edge of the International District to points along the Alaska Way Viaduct, all the way to Myrtle Edwards Park. The trolly was short lived. A sculpture park required real estate that provided the only maintenance shed for the trolly, at the start of Myrtle Edwards.
