It was a followup to a painting called 'Mount Rainier Behind The Clouds', in which the mountain was entirely obscured by low cloud cover and stormy gray sky. That painting is in the collection of Matt O'Meara and Lisa Belden.

This scene will be recognized by anyone familiar with my work, as I've painted this same composition many times, under different weather, different light and different seasons. The property is owned by the state, so no one can build on it. It is part of the right of way for Highway 2. Now the blackberry brambles have pretty much taken over the foreground, leaving the dry reddish and changing grasses almost totally obscured.
